ABOUT US

WHAT WE BELIEVE

A church is not a physical structure or building.  It is the family gathering of men and women who have trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ by faith in the word of God.  These people gather to worship the Lord, to praise Him, to be instructed in the truths of the Bible, and to encourage one another to live in such a manner that pleases Christ our Savior.  It is also a place from which these believers go forth, to present the gospel of Christ Jesus to men and women around the world.

A church living in accord with their own convictions, opinions, or religious constructs can accomplish little for Christ.  However, a gathering of men and women who have a likeminded faith in a foundational set of Biblical truths can do great things for the Lord.  Below are the truths upon which we are building Liberty Baptist Church.

We believe in the absolute authority of the holy scriptures.  It is our final authority in all matters.  God inspired His word without error and has taken upon Himself the responsibility for its preservation.  That incorruptible word, which cannot pass away, is available to the English-speaking world in the Authorized, King James Version.

We believe in one God who eternally exists as the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost.

We believe the Lord Jesus Christ is God who was manifest in the flesh, virgin born, without sin, crucified, and risen from the dead where He ascended back to the Father where He intercedes on our behalf.  He will eventually come in the air to receive His church, then return to earth to establish His rule and reign over the physical kingdom of heaven on earth.

We believe salvation is available to all men by grace through faith in the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ, apart from human works or merit of any kind.

We believe the saved child of God is eternally secure in the Lord Jesus Christ and is sealed, taught, and comforted by the Holy Spirit until the day of redemption.

We believe salvation makes one a member of the body of Christ and that the members of this body should gather in a local church, where they may minister one to another.

We believe it is the responsibility of every believer to proclaim the saving gospel to all men by personal testimony and by giving of their means to finance the missionary efforts of the church.

We believe all men rejecting the Lord Jesus Christ will spend eternity in the conscious torment of a literal lake of fire, while those receiving the Lord Jesus Christ will spend eternity in the glorious presence of God.

We believe all saved men and women should lead a lifestyle separate from the evils of this present world, being holy in mind and body.  We believe, however, that righteousness does not come by keeping laws and commandments but by an inner change of heart.  Therefore, we place emphasis on the inner condition, trusting the outward appearance to follow accordingly as the Holy Spirit guides each individual who yields to Him.

We believe that water baptism is a public testimony made by the saved Christian and plays no part in salvation or making one a member of the church.

We believe that any attempt by the state to interfere with the working of the church or by the church to interfere with the working of the state is a violation of God’s purpose for both.

We believe in the priesthood of all believers and decry any exaltation of one member of the body of Christ or one gift of the Spirit above another.

We believe that the church is a body of which Jesus is the head.  Thus, it is the church’s responsibility to conduct its temporal as well as its spiritual business in strict accordance with the word of God.

ABOUT US

Every church is unique with each having its own points of emphasis (1 Corinthians 12:4-6).  We have that liberty in Christ.

God has provided us with a functional building that meets our current needs.  It is not elaborate but clean.  As God has allowed and enabled, appropriate funds have been spent to make our building welcoming and inviting while most of our money is devoted to spreading the gospel to our community and around the world.

Our prayer is that each visitor feels welcomed upon arrival, blessed by the praise and worship of God, and encouraged to live a life pleasing to our Savior Jesus Christ.

There are many ways to praise the Lord and God indeed desires our praise (Psalm 107:8).  Music is one of those ways.  We have chosen to use the congregational singing of traditional hymns, played and sung in a conservative fashion.  Their lyrics and ability to teach Biblical truth to the singer are important reasons why we use this style of music.

OUR PART IN GOD’S MINISTRY TO REACH THE WORLD:  BOTH SAVED AND LOST

"Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature" (Mark 16:15).  It is our privilege and responsibility of every born-again believer to be a personal witness to others for Jesus every day.  Below are some of the gospel outreach ministries organized by our church.

  • Personal Evangelism

  • Support Missions

  • Nursing Home Services

  • House-to-House Visitation

  • Recorded Sermon Distribution

  • Book Publishing

  • Podcasting

Personal Evangelism

Personal evangelism is obedience to the Biblical command given by the Lord to all believers to tell everyone everywhere the good news of the gospel.  Nothing is more effective, and nothing bears more fruit than individual Christians telling individual sinners what Jesus Christ has done for their salvation.

Support Missions

As Mark 16:15 states, referenced above, we are to go into all the world to preach the gospel.  Physically not all of us are able or even willing to go, but we can support those who do.  This concept is taught to us in the book of Acts and even in the life of Paul.

Some of the greatest joys are to be had in reading missionary letters and hearing of all that God is doing around the world.  Our joy comes in knowing we have a small part in this area of God’s ministry.

Nursing Home Services

Sitting in area nursing homes are dear Christians with failing bodies that prohibit them from traveling to attend church services.  They need the joy and encouragement of a visit from brothers and sisters in Christ.  Furthermore, there are dear souls (both residence and staff) who are potentially at the door of eternity.  They need the rescuing words of the Bible to save them from their sin.

Therefore, we regularly hold services where residents join in song, hear God’s word, and fellowship with those of us that attend.  Each meeting truly is a blessing for all.

House-to-House Visitation

According to the book of Acts, men went into local areas to present the gospel to individuals within a town.  This effort in simplest form is knocking on each resident’s door.  Other times invitations are extended for a preacher or believer to come to an individual’s home to tell them the gospel or answer questions.  This has been the procedure for 2,000 years and nothing should change now.

Recorded Sermon Distribution / Book publishing

Unfortunately, many churches and Christians gather for entertainment and pleasure rather than to fellowship around God and His word.  Very little teaching and true Bible preaching exists in our day and those Christians that desire to grow in their knowledge of Christ and understanding of His word are left spiritually starved because of an unhealthy diet lacking the milk of God’s word.  Therefore, we desire to help those that truly want to grow in the Lord by distributing the teaching and preaching of God’s word to all that desire it.

Podcasting

Like our reasons for sermon and book distributions, we broadcast over the internet Bible teaching that takes the listener verse-by-verse through God’s word.  As God allows and enables, we desire to teach all that hunger to listen.  The internet can be used for many things and praise God we can make the teaching of His word available to most of the world via this resource.

John 3:16

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
